Web FAQs and Pricing Info
Q: How do I begin the web design process?
A: Before we begin, it is useful to think of the goal of your website. You may begin by thinking about your audience and what you would like to provide for them? Is there a message your web site is trying to convey? What kind of feel would you like your website to have? - bold, business-like, whimsical, modern? It is always helpful to browse existing web sites and find examples of items that you like (and don't like!). We can then discuss your needs and requirements.
Q: What is a domain name?
A: A domain name is the url address. For example: fabwebwork.com. It is the address that you type into the browser address bar. Your domain name is usually a company name, your personal name or a name you would like to be associated with on the internet . Once you pick an available name, it usually costs less than $10/year to register.
Q: What is a hosting service?
A: A hosting company will store your web site files on their servers and display them to the public when your domain name is typed into the address bar. We can help you pick out a hosting company. Usually you can purchase your domain name and hosting service from the same company.
Q: What is site maintenance?
A: Site maintenance is a fee paid monthly to keep your site updated with new content that you provide. Most good web sites have new content updated regularly. Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back. This is an optional service that we proivde for our customers. If you want to maintain your website yourself you can do so as well.
Q: How much will it cost me?
A: Web site prices can vary a great deal. If you would like a simple web site of up to five pages, with 5-10 photos and a simple menu, it can cost as little as $1200. Additional costs might include a dynamic or pull out menu system, many optimized photos, flash-animated sections, logo creation and site engine optimization. Once we discuss your project and determine your needs, we will provide you with a proposal for the cost of your web site.
Q: Why should I hire Fab Web Work to create my site?
A: You may be thinking “My brother's dog built his own website, I'll have him do mine for a couple hundred dollars.” Unfortunately, you will probably get what you pay for. Many companies will spend top dollar on print material to promote their business, but are usually not willing to pay the same for a web presence. You can find cheap web designers, but you'll have problems with pages, messy coding which will slow page load times, pages that won't work in one browser or another, and an inconsistent, often amateurish look. With Fab Web Work, you won't be getting a cookie cutter site, but something that reflects your interests and business.
Creating a professional site is not a simple endeavor, and not just anyone can make a site compelling enough for that person to give you a phone call, or order a product. Fab will deliver an inspiring and professional site.
